Located in northeast Italy, Venice comprises six districts. It is built on 117 small islands and has around 150 canals and 409 bridges. Venice city is well-known for its artworks and architecture. It has a rich and diverse architectural style.

Venice is adorned with many titles like “Queen of the Adriatic”, “The floating city” and “The most beautiful city built by man.” Venice has a humid subtropical climate, with cool winters and warm summers. It is also well-known for its delicious seafood and ornate glass-work.

Piazza San Marco

Known in English as St Mark’s Square, this public square is one of the few urban spaces in Europe where human voices prevail over the noise caused by vehicular traffic. You will find the great church of St Mark here.

St Mark’s Basilica

It is the cathedral church of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Venice. This famous church is a classic example of the Byzantine architecture. It is well-known for its beautiful interior design.

Grand Canal

The Grand Canal is a canal in Venice which forms one of the major water traffic corridors in the city. Even though water buses and private taxis are available, you should definitely not miss a peaceful ride on a gondola.

Santa Maria Gloriosa dei Frari

Popularly referred to as the Frari, this church has the status of a minor basilica. Located on the Campo dei Frari, this church is dedicated to the Assumption. The church is built of brick and stands as an example of the Italian Gothic style.

Bridge of Sighs

This enclosed bridge is made of white limestone and has windows with stone bars. Built in 1602, this bridge passes over the Rio de Palazzo and connects the New Prison to the interrogation rooms in the Dodge’s Palace.

Caffe Florian

Located in the Procuratie Nuove of Piazza San Marco, this coffee house is one of the oldest (established in 1720) coffee houses in continuous operation in the world. Having coffee here is a wonderful experience.

Gallerie dell’Accademia

This museum gallery is located on the south bank of the Grand Canal. Originally created as an art school, this gallery exhibits masterpieces of Venetian painting. You will find works of great artists like Bernardo Bellotto in this gallery.
