Las Vegas, the entertainment capital of the world, is located in the US state of Nevada. This resort city is well-known for gambling, fine dining and shopping. It is indeed a glittering jewel in the middle of the desert, surrounded by dry mountains. The city has a subtropical desert climate.

Here is a brief overview of some popular tourist attractions in Las Vegas.

Strip

This stretch of approximately 608 km is located in Las Vegas Boulevard South. Famous casinos, hotels and resorts are located in this strip. In fact 15 of the world’s 25 large hotels are located here.

Golden Nugget

With 2,345 rooms, it is the largest casino-hotel in Las Vegas. It has maintained AAA’s Four Diamond rating consecutively for 32 years from 1977! It is one of the two resorts to have achieved this feat. The other is The Resort at Summerlin, what is now JW Marriot Las Vegas Resort and Spa. You will find the world’s largest gold nugget, “The Hand of Faith”, displayed in the lobby of this hotel.

MGM Grand Hotel

This premium resort is famous for its entertainment amenities. In the lion habitat, you will find he lions displayed in well designed glass facility. The hotel is well-known for its amazing pool area.

Mirage Hotel

Located in the heart of Las Vegas (on the strip), this palace of delights has more than 3000 rooms. The marquee in front of the hotel is the largest free standing marquee in the world.

Las Vegas Art Museum

The museum is dedicated to engaging visitors in the international culture of contemporary art. You will find exhibits of artists like Sush Machida Gaikotsu and Stephen Hendee.

Las Vegas Natural History Museum

This private, non-profit museum is located in downtown Las Vegas. It is part of the Cultural Corridor. You will find interesting galleries here, like Treasures of Egypt, International Wildlife Gallery and Las Vegas Founders’ African Gallery.

Neon Museum

Located in Las Vegas Boulevard and Bonanza, this museum features signs from old casinos and other businesses. Founded in 1996, this museum is an independent non-profit body.
